I had a vision of creating a safe space for both stylists and curls of every texture, pattern and culture. In 2008, I took a leap of faith and focused on the clients who inspired me most. That decision revealed my true calling and led me to rebuild my six-figure business in just six months through referrals, trusted relationships and exceptional client experiences.

In 2010, I opened Ambushed Salon. As I began mentoring aspiring Curl Specialists, I discovered a deeper purpose. I realized the industry needed more than technical education—it needed a holistic approach to developing stylists. One that blends technical excellence with emotional intelligence, authentic connection, self-awareness, and a commitment to lifelong growth.
That vision became the foundation of Ambushed Curl Academy.
What began as my "brain books"—years of handwritten notes filled with techniques, observations, discoveries, and lessons from behind the chair—became a system designed to help stylists grow both behind the chair and within themselves.
Because when a stylist grows... Businesses thrive. Families are supported. Confidence is restored. And our industry becomes stronger.

It all started with a dream.Â

This is woven into every class I teach, every stylist I mentor, and with every curl touched, I am reminded why this work matters.

Together, we unite experience, innovation, and purpose to redefine curl education and empower stylists to build meaningful careers and create a lasting impact in local communities.
I believe growth is not a destination—it is a way of living.
When my hair journey began, I was a small-town girl with big-city dreams.
That hunger to grow shaped my entire career.
My commitment to learning led me to pursue a strong foundation in Vidal Sassoon training, haircare educator roles, creating in-salon education for fellow stylists, volunteering in the cosmetology school and learning from experts how adults absorbed information.
My journey taught me that growth requires well rounded information.
This includes business and leadership education that has made an impact for me on my journey, such as intensive programs with Sage Lavine and Britt Seva’s Thriving Stylist plus other deeply immersive self-reflective programs. I am also inspired by Brené Brown, Mel Robbins, Human Design and many inspirational speakers!
Guiding and nurturing others has always been a common thread in my life. Whether in my family, my career, or my community Â
I've found my greatest purpose in helping others grow with confidence and discover their own unique path.
My path has included becoming a mother, a grandmother, a wife, a homesteader, and a lifelong student of the wisdom found through working with horses.
Each of these roles has shaped the way I lead—with patience, curiosity, resilience, and grace.Â
These experiences have become the foundation of everything I do, allowing me to create spaces where people feel seen, supported, and inspired to become who they were always meant to be.
